I didn’t read for months, it wasn’t till June. Not because I was in a slump, not because life got too busy (okay, maybe a little of that too), but mostly because I was emotionally wrecked and left dangling off the cliff that is the end of Onyx Storm. Thanks, Rebecca Yarros. 😩
It all came rushing back when my friend messaged me the other day, saying she hadn’t picked up a single book in weeks because she was still hung up on Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm. She didn’t just buy the physical books — she also bought the audiobooks because she wanted to re-live the pain, apparently. (I get it, though, I genuinely do.)
There’s something about this series — the dragons, the tension, the characters you fall in love with (and grieve for 😭), and that writing — it just gets its claws in you and refuses to let go.
And don’t even get me started on the end of Onyx Storm. I have SO many questions and ZERO answers. Now we’re all just sitting here… waiting. Waiting for Yarros to bless us with the next book and maybe, just maybe, some answers.
Also, this is your reminder: if Broccoli the cat doesn’t make it into the next book, I swear, I will riot. 🐈⬛
P.S. After months of wandering the book wilderness, I finally managed to somewhat recover… thanks to Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas. If you’re also stuck in the post-Onyx Storm abyss, this series might just be the emotional lifeline you need. It’s got heartbreak, badass characters, and the kind of world-building that helps you forget (temporarily) that you’re still waiting on Rebecca Yarros. 😅
Until then, I guess I’ll try to recover… or maybe reread. Again.

I don’t blame you. If you’re ready for dragons, danger, and emotional damage (the good kind), you can grab all three books in the Fourth Wing series right here:
